Hey girls! You know what? I’ve been on this amazing journey of finding wellness for my soul lately, and I just have to share it with you all. Life can be such a crazy rollercoaster, and sometimes we forget to take care of that little voice inside us. But not anymore!
Let’s start with the mornings. I used to just jump out of bed, rush to grab my phone and check all the notifications, and then start freaking out about all the things I had to do that day. But now, I’ve made a conscious effort to change that. I wake up a little earlier, like just 15 minutes earlier, and I don’t touch my phone right away. Instead, I just lie there in bed and take a few deep breaths. I focus on the feeling of the air coming in and out of my lungs, and it’s like I’m grounding myself in the present moment. It’s amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference. I feel more centered and calm, and it sets a much better tone for the whole day.
Then, I like to do a little bit of stretching right there in bed. I stretch my arms up above my head, reach my toes, and just move my body gently. It gets the blood flowing and wakes up my muscles. And while I’m doing this, I’m still taking those deep breaths. It’s like a mini morning yoga session without the need to roll out a mat.
After that, I make myself a nice cup of herbal tea. I love chamomile or peppermint tea. As I wait for the water to boil and then for the tea to steep, I don’t just stand there impatiently. I watch the water boil, listen to the sound of it, and when I pour the hot water over the tea leaves, I smell the amazing aroma that fills the air. It’s all about being present in these little moments that we usually rush through.
When it comes to eating, I’ve also changed my ways. I used to just scarf down my food while watching TV or scrolling through my phone. But now, I make sure to sit at the table, even if it’s just me. I take a moment to look at the food on my plate. I notice the colors, the textures. And then, I take a small bite and really chew it slowly. I pay attention to the taste, the flavors that burst in my mouth. It makes eating such a more enjoyable experience, and I also find that I feel more satisfied with less food because I’m actually savoring it.
Another thing I do during the day is take short mindful walks. I don’t need to go on a long hike or anything. Just a 10-minute walk around the block. But I leave my phone at home. I focus on my steps, the feeling of the ground beneath my feet. I look at the trees, the flowers, the sky. I notice the little details like the way the sunlight is hitting the leaves or the colors of the flowers. It’s like I’m seeing the world with fresh eyes, and it’s so refreshing.
In the evenings, I like to wind down with a good book. But not just any way of reading. I turn off all the distractions. No TV in the background, no phone notifications. I just curl up on the couch with a cozy blanket and get lost in the story. I feel every emotion of the characters, and I’m fully immersed in the world of the book. It’s a great way to relax my mind after a busy day.
And before I go to bed, I do a little gratitude journaling. I write down three things that I’m grateful for that day. It could be something as simple as the smile of a stranger I passed on the street, or the delicious meal I had, or the fact that I had a warm bed to come home to. Focusing on the good things in life really helps me go to sleep with a positive mindset.
Overall, these mindful practices have really changed my life. I’m less stressed, more in tune with myself, and I just feel a sense of peace and contentment that I didn’t have before. So, girls, give it a try! You might be surprised at how much better you’ll feel.
